Good Morning Spanky and Coppersun; Hoping that you've heard from Colleen and days are starting to get a little brighter. (Colleen and Mark introduced us to Stephanie K. a couple of years ago and we're hoping to catch up with her in October.) We arrive in POP on the 23 and have booked air only. I'm wondering if there are any local (Sosua) hotels that you can recommend to my husband and I. We're in town for the week, looking at some real estate. Hope to hear from you soon and we'll stop by Checkpoint when we arrive. Thanks for any help you can provide. All the best to Colleen. Fiona and Ed Carroll

Hi you two, Have you considered staying at the Casa Marina, I know its a resort but a great one. Also the Victoria House is good. I don't know to much about the local hotels as we stay on the resorts, I would suggest that you check out Debbies Travel forums as there is a wealth of information posted on that forum and information about the hotels. Happy hunting. coppersun

Hi there Carroll family !!!I'm heading to the Casa Marina too in october although I have'nt stayed there before i've checked it out for several weeks before booking. It gets great reviews and I have spoken to people who have been there.Check out tripadvisor for more info. When you stay at Casa Marina you have use of both hotels (casa marina reef and casa marina beach) Iheard it's quite reasonable to book a room. It's an all inclusive resort.hope this helps!! :)We are arriving on the 24th of october so we will most likely cross paths ;D the irish people

hi Antoinette; Brampton is about an hour and a bit west of us. My brother lives in Brampton. We've been to the Dominican about 7 times, mostly with our 3 kids and a couple of times on our own now that the kids are getting a little more independent. This time, we're on our own. (kids are jealous!!haha - too bad)
We love Sosua, have stayed at the Casa Marina as previously mentioned - it's quite nice and one of the nicer resorts we've stayed at. Sosua is really nice because you can wander into town and feel quite safe. Alot of people are afraid to "leave the resort" but we have found integrating with the locals, and also the expatriats that are there is half the fun of being in a new place.
We're not sure yet where we will be staying, but more than likely in Sosua as we are interested in some property there.
Nice talking to you and hopefully we bump into you in October. (I'm originally from Edinburgh (arrived in Canada in 67)(looking at your pics, probably well before you were born!) and my husbands ancestors are from Ireland.
Cheers, Fiona

Hi Andy; We have actually contacted our travel agent to see if we can change our reservation to include Casa Marina (we originally booked air only). We have stayed there before and really like it, so hopefully it works out.
