Hi Coppersun, Palm beach condos, what can I say, the best place to stay in Cabarete. What we look for in our travels is: 1. Location 2. must be a flat piece of property to the ocean. 3. must be a walking beach 4. safe, clean, and cozy rooms Palm beach Condos has it all. The staff are wonderful its owned by Americans, in fact they are dentists. They have a web site: cabaretepalmbeachcondos Thanks for the welcome pwg

hi kristine, yea our weather these days is all overthe map, one minute its a complete downpour and the next the sun is shining i almost thought i was in the D.R. im always trying to plan out my next trip there, so far this year i was there 2 weeks in feb 1 week at the end of march beginning of april and another 2 weeks at the end of may beginning of june. so i think with all that it might be the beginning of 2007. i have a ton of friends there that live year round from all over the world. so i stay pretty busy when im there and plus i am a beach bum during the day. we usually stay at Perla de Sosua right down behind the Banco Popular...love it!!!!!!!!!! the location is wonderful, 2 minute walk to everything. well have a great day all! Brenda

Thanks for the info, we are looking at Casa Marina Reef & Marina for this year, never been there but want something that is right in Sousa, as I am tired of taking cabs everywhere. Could you give me some more info on the Perla please, we are also getting tired of the big resorts and I know that the Casa has over 600 rooms which means lots of people. Does the Perla have a website or anything. thanks again. and yep Beach bum here as well!!

good morning, no probs on the info for perla. they are apts, like i said its a 2 min walk to everything you need in sosua. ive been staying there for awhile now and the owner is Brent lewis who lives in Arizona, but has an on site manager who was martin but as of the end of aug it will be Coralia who is also wonderful. Carmin is the maid who is also very trust worthy. you can get info off of rentavillas.com or you can email Brent brentlewis@rentavillas.com tell him you got the info from his best tenent Brenda. some of the apts have been renovated(like the 2 2 bedrooms)and they are wonderful, they are working on the rest, there is 11 all together, let me know if there is any other info you need, have a great day, Brenda

Thanks so much Brenda, I will be looking into them. Great Information. I think that the trend seems to be that folks who have been going to the DR for a number of years get tired of the bigger resorts. This is just my opinion however I get lots of inquiries asking if I know of this type of accomodation. We to are in that mode, resorts are nice but once you get out of them and start to travel the country on your own you realize that there is so much more to the DR than just the resorts. Again thanks so much, kristine

oh yes i do agree, i have so many friends there now that when im there i like to have them over for dinner and drinks and just to hang out and visit and get caught up, cant do that when your at a resort. ive just been doing some reading and chatting with some of my friends in sosua and there is quite a buzz about there on this early closure of bars, they want sun-thurs liquor sales done at 12 am and on fri and sat, 2am wow wont that be different. my one friend who works at coconut palms said he has already heard of different places having reservations cancelled. have a great day all!!! WOW is that for all the resorts and stuff, first I have heard of this early closure. Do you know why they are doing that?? this could definately have impacts all over the place, especially for the resorts that advertise 24 hour bars.

im not too sure where the resorts fit into all this but ive been reading the articles on dr1, and ofcourse chatting with friends who live there. has all to do with trying to control crime and violence, also cracking down big time on the drinking and driving, and making sure people have the proper registration for their vehicles. they are really busy there right now with all this stuff
