It is with deep sadness and regret that we have to advise Mark [of Checkpoint fame] our dearest beloved friend, employer and colleague, passed away in the early hours of Tuesday 29th May 2007.

Cyndy and I were talking about Mark and yourself this morning over coffee, and planning another trip to the DR. Then I came onboard and found out about the tragic news.
Prayers are coming from Vancouver Island.

Nancy and I just heard about Mark's passing and we are both destroyed.Our deepest condolences go to Colleen and family. Spanky, could you please apprise us of the incident that led to this tragic death. Our prayers go out to you, Colleen.

Please accept my sincere condolences, I can't begin to imagine what you are going through now. I hope you can find some strength and solace in knowing that hundreds of people loved, admired and respected Mark and are praying for you.

To all the wonderful folks, thank you so much for the phone calls and emails. I am trying to keep up but please be patient and I will get all the emails answered. thank you for all your thoughts and prayers, I am keeping track and will let Colleen know that you are all so sad about this and will keep her in your prayers.

As someone who worked for Mark and Colleen for a year at Checkpoint, this news has saddened me deeply. I always felt that I was in the midst of so much love when I saw them together. As an employer, Mark was kind and fair. As a friend, he was funny, supportive and loving. All my love and prayers go out to Colleen and Madeleine. I feel as though the world has lost one of the good guys. But Heaven has gained a rather unique angel. I just hope there is some Barcelo and OJ waiting for you Mark! I will always remember you!

Although we are not able to be in Sosua, our hearts, prayers and thoughts are there. We are hoisting a Brugal to Mark and sending all our love to Colleen and please give her strength to go on......
