I have a few questions regarding the airport...
1. Do you have to press a button to go thru customs, if its green you go thru, red they search all your bags? We experienced this in Cancun, and just wondering if POP has this too?
2. How is customs? Generally, is it fairly well organized and you get thru quickly (like cancun)
I keep relating everything to Cancun, but that our only experience, and my friends keep asking us..I DUNNO anything about POP as we have never been to DR! haha

When you get off the plane the line forms right at the end of the hallway. In my experience, when it is your turn you just go through and they stamp your passport. You then proceed through the door and the baggage carousel is there where you can claim your luggage. We have walked past the customs guys 4 times now and have never had our bags checked. In my experience it is very efficient and organized, we haven't waited for any length of time. I don't know if that is because our flights usually land late in the day but we haven't had any bad experiences landing there or going through customs.

Hi skittle
If you haven'y found out, there is no amber light/red light, etc like in Mexico.
I personally have never had mu bags even looked at sideways, and walked right through after picking them up. They just want you out of the Airport and FAST, so you can spend your $$$ here, LOL!

The airport was a breeze for us last week, the only confusion was about a new blue card that they give you at customs to fill out. They are apparently phasing out the tourist cards that they give you on the plane, it all works out though, some people on our flight did not get the new cards on arrival but got them no problem for departure at the airport.
The airport is fine, if you are confused look for your tour rep for help. Don't sweat the details it all works out!
