Airlines to charge for luggage

It appears the 2 pieces of checked luggage per passenger policy will become a thing of the past. Major US carriers plan to cut checked baggage allowance and increase fees, which means other carriers will likely follow. This is insane!

Does the new policy apply to international travel?
No, the new baggage policy only applies to flights within the 50 U.S., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada. An itinerary such as Austin to Houston and connecting to London, or Beijing to New York/Newark and connecting to Boston will not be subject to the new fee.
