WOW! A Sosua forum! Coolness, glad to be here...
I went on sabbatical to the D.R. in October of 1992... it's been a long time, yes... too long. I found you guys while trying to look up a business in Sosua. While I was there in 92, I purchased a beautiful necklace and bracelet set... they were made by a silver artist who owns a boutique there, and I am guessing it's probably Patrick's Silversmithy. I wanted to get some history on the piece, since I spent almost $2000.00 (American) on it! So, here I am!
I am still trying to find out about this set- I'll probably have to call the artist's shop. The necklace and bracelet are both pure silver "chain mail" ropes with a sculpted silver dragon head on each end, and clasps to join the dragon heads. At the time of purchase, I was told that it was one of only four, but I may be remembering it wrong. Either way, it's a very emotional possession, because it reminds me of my time in paradise.
Glad to be here, I had such fun while I was in Sosua, and I MUST make it back there someday! Kinda hard now, I had a baby in 05, so travel is limited due to finances. I cannot remember if I went to Checkpoint while I was there, or if it was in existence, etc.
