Hey dougiej. I'm from Thunder Bay, too. We were thrilled to learn earlier this summer that Sunwing has direct flights from TB to DR. We booked right away. Have you been to the DR before?

Yeah this will be my 4th, had to leave from T.O last year. Good call for the direct flights, even though there's a stopover in London. It definitley helps when your travelling with retirees(in-laws). Be there before we know it!!

We're staying at Casa Marina Beach & Reef Resort this year (Iberostar Costa Dorada in POP last year & Azzurro Estrella in Cabarete the year before). Our travel agent says we'll be in London for about 30-40 minutes. Hope she's right. It sure beats driving to Winnipeg (like we did last year). The stretch from Ignace to the Manitoba border was ok, but would have been a nightmare during a snowstorm. Congrats on the upcoming nuptuals!

Thanks Colleen, Koolkat, the Casa Marina Beach is a blast, definitely underated at a 3 star, I'll be there also. I hate driving to Winnipeg, bad road man, You're not going anywhere if you're caught in a snowstorm on that road. I can taste the Brugal already! ;D

I can taste the Brugal already! ;D Ahhh...yes! I sniffed the last Brugal bottle we polished off earlier this year and I swear I can smell the ocean air. Lucky me actually managed to salvage a couple of drops hidden in the very bottom. Mmmmm...soon my toes will be in the sand and I'll be nicely roasted with a drink in each hand forgetting about the Northwestern Ontario cold and snow back home. Makes it hard to sleep at night in anticipation.

Hey Colleen/Mark,
Here I am back in Northern Ontario on my 3rd day of rehab/detoxification.
Great time visiting the checkpoint and seeing you both, especially having a long goodbye chat and beverage with Mark on Friday evening.
Took Mark's advice regarding any boarding problems I may encounter on account of the recently acquired speech impediment and decided not to speak and approached the counter as one would approach the soup Nazi on Seinfeld and silently handed over my ticket. Worked a charm until I discovered I had a center seat with no aisle seat being available. Forced to speak I said one word; "Claustrophobic" 4 syllables, claustrophobico was yelled by the ticket agent and a aisle seat appeared.
Had a word with household cook gave instructions that I will not tolerate the ketchup going on the cheeseburgers longitudinally, from now on it would go on latitudinally, and the mustard going on longitudinally as done by the Andy Warhol of burgers.
Anyhow will stay in touch and look forward to seeing you both again in February. Say hello to my pals Jen and Dave.

Hi Jackspratt
Great to see you got home safely, without too many problems at the airport.
Hope the speech impediment has improved .
Look forward to seeing you again in Feb and to many more postings

Hey Jack!!! Good to see you on our little forum here! Liked your story. You KILL me...we miss you already! Nice to know my burgers have made that deep of an impression on you and that you refuse to have your condiments done any other way from now on...impressive! Now that you're nicknamed me the Andy Warhol of Burgers...I will have to maintain a standard at Checkpoint that is beyond anyone's comprehension...yikes! See you soon! Coll
