To begin the event I thought I should say a few words, so this is what I prepared...there were a few kleenexes used.....
When I first heard about Sosua Kids, I realized it was the perfect organization to get involved with. Because I believe that to change things in any country you have to start at the bottom, and start with the kids, who are our future.
What I learned about Sosua Kids, was that there were a small group of helpful, loving people involved with placing and keeping a small group of kids in school.
What I did NOT realize, was what I would get out of it, and how it would change MY world.
The charity and love involved in joining a team of dedicated, hard working people with a common bond led me to find out things about myself that I never knew- that I could feel better about giving than receiving, that I could care about people I didn’t even know and that I could grow so much in doing so.
I also found out that charity is in the hearts of the most unassuming people- the people next door, co-workers, those within your group of family and friends- and total strangers that come together to help when you most need them.
Sosua Kids began seven years ago with only a handful of children. Through word of mouth, the internet and a group of caring people worldwide, we can now boast over 230 kids in school. This event will help us keep those children there, and hopefully, raise our numbers by a comfortable few.
ALL OF YOU who have helped tonight’s event by donating time, prizes, food to feed the masses and generous cash donations have reason to be proud. You ARE Sosua Kids, everyone of you, and we are proud and grateful to know you.
You are our every success!
Now lets have fun and raise a bunch of money for a good cause while we do it!
