[glow=red,2,300] [/glow] OK, so those of you that have been on these boards awhile, know my biggest secret- I love sending kids to school! I highly encourage any and all people I meet down here to help the kids in the Greater Sosua area get excited about it too- and help keep them there! Our commitment to these kids goes way beyond the uniform, and school supplies- and the caring people involved in this organization, volunteers and donors alike, are a pleasure to work with and learn from. To date we have gone from a handful of kids to over 150- in record time- this organization is only a few years old. Help us keep these children's needs and dreams alive by donating generously...with your time, monetary donations and school supplies- You won't believe the satisfaction achieved by helping just one child get a better education. If you want more information, visit our website, at: spaces.msn.com/sosuakidsAnd feel free to PM or e-mail me for more information on how you can start a campaign at home, before you come down on your next holiday! It's fun and easy, and a great way to get others involved!

Ok here is a guestion for you Colleen, what is better and would be of more use, supplies brought over or cash donation while we are there? Honestly? Cash donations at this point. We have accepted a lot of school supplies to out together kits in July. But when we issue the vouchers for uniforms and school supplies, the kids can get them here for a very reduced price at Casa Nelson etc., in Puerto Plata. At this point we can use all the monetary donations we can get! Thanks for asking!

Hit the jackpot yetserday, here is the post I made on Debbie's. Too good to be true, but it is. « Thread Started on Yesterday at 3:48pm » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My wife and I are leaving for 2 weeks in Purto Plata next Friday. Over the last 6 months or so we have gathered 1/2 a suitcase full of health and educational supplies, and a new DVD player for Sosua Kids and The Dream Foundation. I have a 50 KG weight allowance for humanitarian purposes from Skyservice (thank you). 18 Months ago I met Wendy Hagar of Sew On Fire Ministries. www.sewonfire.com/ For 7 years now she has been collecting every possible clothing, educational, health and home needs. She also has strollers for the handicapped, along with other hard goods. She donates this to every country in the world, and now over 100,000 bags have been distributed to the needy by tourists like you. I went to the facility in Burlington today and filled up the other half of my suitcase. Everything is new and clean. Take a look at what she donated today. 15 pair assorted sized flip flops. 15 matching children's outfits. 5 pair children's jeans. 20 assorted children's books. 15 colouring books. 500 children's vitamin C. 35 sewing kits. 4 lunch bags. Assorted boys and girls tops and shorts. Over 150 hair clips and accessories. 6 First aid kits. picasaweb.google.com/chris.willott Check it out. Now the great news. If you call her and can make it to Burlington, she will fill up any suitcase you bring. All she asks for is to fill out a small form, and send her pictures of you donating it to a school, charity or church. And its not just the D.R., it's for any poor country you choose to visit. I encourage anyone in the G.T.A. to take advantage of this gift. Mention, Beyond The Beach Children's Foundation. and my name. Chris Willott. I will seperate them between you and Dream. 50/50 only you get the DVD player.
