Questions re: travelling solo

I posted these questions on Deb's board, sorry for the duplication for those who are members of both boards, but wondering if there are folks here experienced with Sosua specifically.
Any women on the board who have travelled solo to Sosua? Any advice on places to stay that have single rentals that are economic, safe and clean? Looking for perhaps a smaller hotel right in Sosua, not all inclusive as I prefer exploring the local culture, and preferably walking distance to places like Checkpoint and Ruby's.
Would love to hear from anyone who has done a solo trip: Where did you stay? What is within walking distance? Did you feel safe (in the accommodation and out walking)?
For excursions, is it easy to book them once you've arrived? - am considering the Dolphin Swim and Paradise Island.
Very grateful for any advice in helping to plan my virgin solo expedition.

Hi again rusty,

We stay at the Casa marina beach. I have not traveled alone but would recommend that resort, very safe and not far from Ruby's and Checkpoint. also you might want to ask Brook who bar tends at the Checkpoint she has some condos that she looks after. Also Colleen is the best to ask for this one.

Hi Rusty,

I wass at Sosua in April on my own.
Stayed at Condos Dominicano a beautifull place not far from the casa marina area. 10 minutes walk from checkpoint.

Sosua is pretty save, just keep in mind not to carry much values and jewelry and things like that.
Just keep in mind not to go to far from the center in night time.
Do not go on the beach in night time and things like that when you are on your own.
It's nice to be in Sosua I spend 3 weeks over there and next week i'm going to book my ticket. for the whole mounth off november. would be great feel free to mail me at [e-mail] with your questions
