We miss you all! Brad is craving a Checkpoint double bacon cheeseburger again. That's why we missed out on going to La Finca for dinner before we left. He had that double burger and was full until the next day! Well worth it, though. Sure enjoyed hanging with you folks. Hope to be in Sosua again in about six months.
I'm already researching possible flights and places to say, maybe not an all-inclusive this time. Depends what flights will be available out of Winnipeg, Thunder Bay or Toronto in May. Will keep you posted. It's possible WestJet will be flying to Puerto Plata this year, as they already do have packages to Punta Cana. We'll keep our fingers crossed.

Thanks! Have you been to Casa Marina Reef & Beach in late May? If so, is it typically a busy month for the resort? In our 2nd week there in late Dec./early Jan. it was way too packed. Twenty minutes waiting in line at one of the bars for a drink was insane!
We're hoping to get there again in mid-to-late May, if possible.

No worries Koolkat, it's not as busy in May but expect it to be warmer- you were here at a VERY busy time! AND WE'D LOVE IT IF YOU CAME BACK SO SOOOOON!

Nope, never been there in May. We always have visited for 2 weeks landing sometime in the 20 somethings in February so that we return home in March and hopefully spring starts at home closely thereafter.

Hi Everyone
KoolKat-great photos of the Reef... 6 of us are coming down March 10 and staying there. We are really looking forward to getting away from Toronto. Even though it hasn't been cold at all and there hasn't been any snow. What is the weather like during March? Any suggestions of where to go and what to see?

Hey zkat. You will like it in Sosua. Lots of shops, bars (Checkpoint rocks!), restaurants, art shops, jewelry shops, supermercados (supermarkets), etc. Lots of activity if you just want to hang out and people watch. Tours we have gone on that I recommend: Monster Truck Safari Ocean World Catamaran Paradise Island (VIP) Santiago/Jarabacoa Tours we want to go on: Puerto Plata & Brugal rum factory Samana - Bacardi Island River Rafting Blue Lagoon There really is so much to do and see! We will book with Linda again when we return soon www.sosuadomrep.com/mel_tour.htmThe beaches and shops of nearby Cabarete are nice to visit, too. Windsuring is cool to watch, but we haven't tried it yet. www.cabaretewindsurfing.com . A taxi of up to 6 passengers is about $25 US return, if I remember correctly. There are also casinos, golf courses, horseback riding, and so many activities within a 30 minute drive of Casa Marina Reef & Beach. The problem is trying to fit so many things you want to do into a reasonable time frame and budget. You truly cannot be bored in the DR, even when it rains.
