Hey there, I'm sure that somebody here will be able to help us find the perfect resort. Our next trip is planned for Jan 20th, and it's looking like we'll be heading back to the DR once again. I'll try to give you an idea of who is going, and what their requests are: There will be 4 young adults (25 - 27), my two granddaughters (4 and 2), myself and hubby ( hmmmm 29 and holding) ;D We need a nice beach for the girls to build sand castles and play in the water, a nice pool for SIL because he won't go in the salt water , good food for the picky eaters, preferably a 24 hour bar and disco for the partiers, and diving for hubby and myself. We have previously been to Breezes Puerta Plata (loved it), and Casa Marina (it was ok). SIL loved the pool at Breezes, but wants to try a different resort this time and is hoping for a similar style pool. Any and all suggestions, comments or rude remarks will be welcome. ;D

Well I can't comment too much on resorts because once I discovered Sosua I started staying in small hotels and enjoyed the beach and haging in town too much. I guess a question to ask is how much do you want to be in Sosua? I am not sure what Sosua Bay offeres but it is all inclusive and you can't get a better local. We have stayed at the Riu comlex foe 2 weeks and return for a one night stay on our trips and it is very nice(3 resorts to move around in) but it is far from town etc.. with so many people why not rent a villa and do a more local thing?? Have fun.

Hi, I would suggest the Breezes Puerto Plata, from all of our stays the Breezes is the only pool like that. And I must say it is wonderful. the next best for pools would be Casa Marina Reef, the pool is not as big or does not have all the little tunnels and water ways. but the resort is nice and very reasonable.
The stuff that you wrote about definately describes the Breezes. It is by far one of the best. The Wynman Tangerine, which is the next one beside the breezes is great as well. There are others that we have stayed in but depending on where or what part of the island you want to be on is the question. The Tropical is nice but it way up north of Puerto Plata and no shuttles, but the beach is wonderful and nice stuff for kids to do. Let me know where about you want to stay and I can let you know more ahout the resorts around that area

Thanks for the great answers. robyne2000 The Villa idea sounds great except for one thing. With a villa full of big and little kids I would still be Mom and I'd end up picking up after them all week. coppersun2001 We have been to both Breezes and Casa Marina Beach, so we're looking for something similar. ;D We've also been to Casa Del Mar, and Gran Ventana. We haven't tried the Punta Cana side yet, but it really doesn't appeal to me. I like to be able to walk off the resort and get into town and hang out with the "real" people. ;D I guess the biggest priority is the pool. Any other suggestions?

The only other one I would recommend for pools is Garden Vitalis which is part of the Hacendia Tropicals. The neat thing about this resort is that you can stay in the pinwheels, which are self contained little hut type of rooms. there are four to a pin wheel, nice and clean and very kid friendly, you can find it in the Sun Quest webpage. Great beach!

I have to agree as well, that the villa vacation is great and you always have a 7 day a week maid service and some villa come with a cook as well or you hire one for as little as $ 15/day. Have a look at this website and you can have a choice of any villas or resorts as well: www.sunnyvillaholidays.comIf yu have any questions, you can contact me anytime as well at : U.S. Phone: (815) 308-7604 Canada Phone: (416) 848-6049 or (204) 480-1502 HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!!!
