WOW! What a trip. Me and Ashley had such a great time, met so many fabulous people. Stayed at Condos Dominicano where Coll and Mark live (I'm her brother), and didn't miss that plastic all-inclusive garbage one bit. Did the Paradise Island thing, don't miss out on that if you go down. Rented scooters and braved the highway past Cabarete and went to Islabon for an afternoon, then to Los Charamicos for some a real spooky shopping experience. Wanted a feel for the darker side of the local culture and went to the cock-fights. That'll change your life! Hung out lots at the Checkpoint (of course). Sosua Beach can get a bit exhausting, unless you like saying "no, gracias" 80 times a minute, to all the folks trying to sell you stuff. Found a quieter beach with no vendors much more to our liking. Head east past Casa Marina and look for an abandoned resort called the Lorimar, sneak through its breezeway and you'll find it. There's even a few small reefs there for snorkeling. More later, have typers cramp.

Got a ride to Cabarete with Mark, and took a gwa-gwa back to Sosua. There's some adventure for ya. 22 adults and 2 little babies crammed into and hanging off the sides of a Toyota mini-van in questionable running condition going 110 kph down the highway. The ride was only 10 or 20 pesos, but of course all I had was a 100peso bill. Was worth every penny just for the adrenaline.
