Well spanky, its the age old question, " What is Karma" its found in the Buddhism and Hinduism faith, meaning totality of one's act in each state of one's existance. That is according to Mr. Webster. Try looking under fate, or Buddhism. I like to think that we all have "good Karma" however sometimes it is hidden.

Thanks Coppersun. I think I knew the gist of actual karma, but my question was in relation to the karma points received on this forum.

Boo Hoo Hoo! I've still only managed to accumulate one KARMA point. Just suppose I will have to keep up those 'Anger Management' classes. Or is it because the limericks are not up to scratch. Over to you Colleen

OK you whiners! I guess I must explain WHAT this Karma thang is so you "regulars" can use it!
From what I can surmise, when you are signed in and reading a thread, you will notice two little words in the profile of the said "thread starter" or "replier" ...those words are: Exalt and Smite.
I shall provide you with the dictionary definitions for these two words for those of you that have no idea what they mean (LOL):
EXALT: v 1: praise, glorify, or honor: "extol the virtues of one's children"; "glorify one's spouse's cooking" [syn: laud, extol, glorify, proclaim] 2: fill with sublime emotion; tickle pink(exhilarate is obsolete in this usage); "The children were thrilled at the prospect of going to the movies" [syn: exhilarate, thrill] 3: heighten or intensify; "These paintings exalt the imagination" [syn: inspire, animate, invigorate, enliven] 4: raise in rank, character, or status; "exalted the humble shoemaker to the rank of King's adviser" -Obviously it's prasing the comments of the poster or prasing the poster him/herself...
SMITE: v 1: inflict a heavy blow on, with the hand, a tool, or a weapon 2: affect suddenly with deep feeling; "He was smitten with love for this young girl" 3: cause pain or suffering in; "afflict with the plague"; "That debasement of the verbal currency that afflicts terms used in advertisement" [syn: afflict] - In other words, it's like a thump on the head, in disagreement of a post!
So the idea is this: Since we are a FRIENDLY forum, you may not need to use the smite one very often! But if you like a joke, recipe or comment made by someone, you exalt them simply by clicking to the left of the post!
As grand administrator, I can go in the back door and give Karma to anyone I choose and play with the numbers, which is why Kristine/CopperSun has lots ('cause she has been so awesome in helping), and Robyne as well for being such an awesome bar wench during our most recent charity event!
GET IT???
SO feel free, people, to exalt away to your heart's content!
Whew!
