Just got back last night from the DR. It was +3 here, about 2 inches of snow, then raining most of today. It should be between -18 to -30 by now with 3-4 feet of snow. Not a good sign. Lots of freezing rain in Thunder Bay, ON, during our two weeks in Sosua. No wonder I had a nasty cold the first four days of our trip. After many Presidente, Pina Coladas, Coco Locos and Cuba Libres, my cold finally gave up! Lots of people here are sick with nasty flu viruses that won't go away. Winnipeg, MB, got almost 30 cm of snow recently and we got freezing rain instead. Weird, very weird. Squirrels are still scurrying around when they should be hibernating.

Sure, we get back and the flu is rampant here. Many people on the plane hacking with colds. You have my sympathy, coppersun. Maybe you should come to Northwestern Ontario for a visit! We actually could use some snow, I can't believe I just said that.

Yup- everyone thinks that we don't get "sick" here, but we get plane loads of people here carrying cold and flus, so we get 'em all! My advice? Take Cold FX and Echinacea BEFORE you get on a plane full of 300 people, many of whom might be carrying a BUG!!! Stay well, all!

Finally back on the air again after another power outage. This is the 7th outage in 2 months. Longest 7 days, shortest 4 hours. The southern end of Vancouver Island has been the hardest hit, mainly because we have 50 foot power poles with 200+feet evergreens planted right beside them. The evergreens are shallow rooted, so after a couple of weeks of rain to saturate the ground, then a 120K windstorm and down come the powerlines and the roads are impassable due to downed trees. A lot of people are carrying chain saws in their cars to make sure that they can get to and from work. The only consolation is that when our storm is over, 2 or 3 days later Coppersun gets hit with the same storm. Share the wealth. I sure could put up with a DR rainstorm. Mac (You can call me cold buns)

You folks in BC and Sask. sure are getting hammered lately. I watched a news report on trees toppled in Stanley Park. What a disaster.
We are expecting our first real snowfall of the winter - up to 6 inches - tonight and tomorrow morning. This has been a very weird winter so far.

Just read that two people died in Onion Lake, SK, after their car got stuck 200 metres from their home. Froze to death. Saskatchewan got it bad. Blizzard on the way to Manitoba, then coming our way today. Got 2 inches of snow last night, about -5 right now. Bracing ourselves for some more white stuff, but no blizzard warnings yet. Be safe, coppersun.

It is unbelieveable to read about all the deaths and injuries caused by the weather in Canada lately! How heartbreaking- I am glad we have each other to comfort ourselves! A woman in Vancouver had multiple injuries after she was hit by a tree in Stanely Park in Vancouver! Unreal. STAY SAFE everyone!!!

Yes, weather here in BC has been very strange. Unbelievable cold (nothing I am sure for those of you east of us). The sun shon here the other day, first time since Hallowee'n! Oh well, I will be in the DR in a couple of days and will hopefully forget all about it. By the time we return things should improve weather wise.
I will pray that the daughter keeps the fire going and that house does not burn down while we are away!

HI Well just got back on Friday from Saskatoon. WOW I left for the city on Tuesday and got storm stayed for three days. I have been through blizzards before but this one was unbelievable!! The winds in Saskatoon were about 90 - 100 km at times, which is about the same as a Cat 2 hurricane. Blowing snow made such a mess of this city. and then the deep freeze hit! Cell phones crashed systems, the hotel I stayed at lost water on the second day, so with the storm stayed travellers that were put up in the conference rooms etc. made for an exciting stay. We were there for an "EMergency Planning meeting" the hotel staff knew what we did so we kinda got recruited to help out. The hotel staff were excellant! Roads were closed all around the city. In fact in the city as well. A couple of ski- doo dealerships donated all their machines to the fire and ambulance departments so they could get around the city making sure all who were stranded in their cars were ok. One lady at the hotel was at an appointment downtown and it took her 3 hours to drive to the hotel. Normally it would take 20 minutes. Some places in the city looked like you were driving through snow tunnels. It was unbeleivable!
The two that died in Onion Lake ( which is about 40 minutes from where I live) died 200 meters from their home. so sad!
More later. I took some pics on my cell phone but will have to figure out how to download them now.
Got home Friday morning and found that my daughter had gone into labour early that morning. All are fine AND
ITS A BOY!!!!! 9 pounds 8 ounces, 22 inches long!!! COLTON JAMES is beautiful chubby little man! WE are so excited, this is the first boy in the families.
