Now don't eat this recipe!! yum yum This is quick and easy to clean your silver....line a bowl, like a cereal bowl with tin foil. Put your jewellry in the bowl and make sure it touches the tin foil, in otherwords, don't pile one on top of the other, each piece has to touch the fin foil. Dump in 2 heaping teaspoons of soda, and 2 heaping teaspoons of salt. Fill the bowl with boiling water (the water has to completely cover whatever pieces you have in the bowl). Voila!! It bubbles and fizzes like a witches cauldron, and presto your silver is like new again!! No shit, I just did it the other day!! It works!!! Ta P.S. it has to be BOILING water or it won't work. xxooScatticat

Just be really careful - I wouldn't recommend it for antique or sterling silver. I've seen some disasters with silver that is particularly ornate. Part of the beauty of certain pieces of silver is the oxidization that darkens the grooves in the pattern. Using the boiling water, salt and soda bath will remove it. My Dad was a jeweller and highly recommended using Hagarty's Silver Foam for delicate or important pieces. I've stuck with it and Coll will confirm that the family Damask Rose is as beautiful or even more beautiful than it was 50 or 60 years ago.
