Hi WIL it a great place for kids! You didn't post were you were staying that will make a difference as to where you go, but check with your tour guides at the resort you are staying at, there are all sorts of entertainment. If you haven't picked on yet, I would suggest the Breezes at puerto plata, lots of things for kids. I don't recommend renting a vehicle as the rule of the road over there are: there aren't any, the roads are not great and every one drives like maniacs. I would also recommend a day at ocean world in Playa Corferesi. also I would not recommend Haitai right now, very unstable. coppersun

If you are looking at doing a horse back riding tour, the Sea Horse Ranch in Cabarate is the way to go. It is a very reputable place that is very well taken care of and their horses look like someone actually feeds them. The tour guide was friendly and he took us through the woods and onto the beach. The package we bought was for half a day and included a toasted ham and cheese sandwich with a bottle of coke. They provided transportation to and from the ranch. It cost us $52 US per person and I think it was well worth it.

Hi Rugby7s...the gals are right- there are many things to do here. My friend Linda at Mel' Tours is very knowledgeable about all the tours and her prices beat the resort tour operators every time. They pick up from all hotels in the area, and may even have some info on the market near Haiti. E-mail her at meltours@gmail.com and visit her page on sosuadomrep.com for more info... www.sosuadomrep.com/Mel_Tour.htmShe will help make your trip more enjoyable for sure!!!
