Why no threads previously in this section?
We have found Linda at Mel tours to be a fantastic source of information [and never pushy insisting you buy a tour] plus a wonderful person to know.
So come on you guys, ask her some questions

Sorry Spanky, we had this under booking tours but this thread is more appropriate! In revamping the boards and adding more stuff, things have changes just a bit...anyone noticed? ; )

Last winter we took the Waterfalls day tour. and had a BLAST. Very reasonable. The waterfalls were invigorating and a little wild ( my 8 year old son managed). I wanted to do it again mananna. We have also enjoyed the Jeep Safari as a day in the past. And this winter I am going to splurge and go to Ocean World. Anyone wanting to take a tour of some sort should see Linda. You can email her in advance at meltours@gmail.com with your questions. then when you are at Checkpoint you can drop in and see her and make your arrangements. Have fun

What a great day! Picked up by the crew Ramonne and Tomas [and surprisingly -- on time]. Very courteous and helpful. First visit was to a small location that had eagles, snakes, crocodiles, giant iguanas etc. then off to a plantation. The local tour guide was very informative about the many varied plant life, the fruit, trees and vegetation in general. First class! A short stop at La Entrada beach --- stunningly beautiful and nearly empty of tourists [except us, of course] Next, the Blue Lagoon itself. What an awesome sight. Fantastic. Time now for our Dominican lunch. We were impressed with the buffet spread. We ate with gusto and filled our bellies. Finally, Playa Grande beach. Another superp example of the DR at its best. And all day long Ramonne was generously plying everyone with whatever drink they required. He even stopped the bus at a street vendor to buy all the tourists bags of almonds and the sweet nut brittle. Small touch, but very good. How did we rate the day overall. 9/10, superb, awesome, terrific, wonderful, splendid, safe and well organised. Well done to Linda and everyone else at Mel Tours for allowing us to participate in this tour. We would highly recommend you guys

I am almost every day on the Forum now, and have never checked the Mel Tours threat...shame on me!!! But now, one and a half weeks later, after my birthday , I have seen all your wishes on it. Thank you so much again. I love you. Specially thanks to Colleen and Mark, who are like a Family for me here, because they feed me, they help me, if i have a problem, they give me something to drink (sometimes to much : , if I am thirsty, they are giving me good advises and they are always here, when i need a strong shoulder to lean on it, specially in the Moment. Thank you. I love you.

Took the Blue Lagoon Tour yesterday(Sun. 26th, Nov.) Beautiful Beaches and great Lunch. Had just a wee bit to much Presidete! Nice tour guides that were more than eager to discuss the DR and all the current events. Playa Grande is really great as were all the other. Felt very comfortable the entire time. Linda is great and does not pressure you into booking. Please come and see her if its just for info or booking your vacation tour. Dee and Steve USA

Here is a question for you Linda. What type of tours would you recommend for an 84 yr old male and a 80 uyear old female, fairly mobile but could not do a lot of climbing. My dad and aunt will be joining us on the trip this year and I want to send them on some tours. Thanks Copper

Hi Coppersun I would recommend to your uncle and your aunt some very interesting, but relaxed tours, where they don't have to sit a long time in the Bus, and where they don't have to do a lot of walking, etc... How about the Playa Grande & Gri Gri Lagoon Tour, Puerto Plata City Tour, ( maybe Ocean World?) or the Santiago and Jarabacoa Tour? These Tours are fairly soft Excursions, where you see a lot of the countrysides, but you don't have to make any physically efforts. You always drive in a comfortable Bus with Air condition. We are doing these Tours only with small groups (between 8 and 15 People). There are always Drinks in the Bus available for free. A nice, big Lunch Buffet in a Restaurant is included too. Please check also my Website www.mel-tour.com. Maybe you see another nice tour for your relatives.
